About

Born and raised up to my early teens just east of Indianapolis, I grew up surrounded by fields, forests and creeks with virtually no other house in sight. (My grandparents' home was visible through the woods in the winter, but you get the point). At 14, my family moved up to Northern Indiana. Again, a very rural setting with nature everywhere.

Somewhere along the line I moved into the city -- not any city, not a cute, small town, but Fort Wayne. Desperate to get back into the country, but lacking the means to do so, I'm trying to work with my city ecosystem. So there you have it; as far as the urban setting's concerned, I'm a fish out of water (an eco-friendly urban fish, as it were). It's hard not being able to hear the coyotes every night, but as I discovered, even the urban landscape has its own ecosystems trying desperately to avoid all that man has thrown at it.

Now I'm on the south side of Indianapolis. In a neighborhood. With neighbors all around, the sounds of drunken people at 4 a.m. and the summertime trills of children riding bikes. I'm still an urban fish, and trying to make due with what I've got at the moment.

As I'm still dealing with the fact that my country escape is not in my near future, I'm making conscious decisions regarding my tiny little plot and how it affects everything around me -- even the world.

I hope you find my posts helpful. If nothing else, I have all my thoughts, knowledge and concerns written down for personal use.

Enjoy. Especially if you're stuck being an urban fish, as well.
